Here is an example of how to make oneself unpopular in one easy lesson.
Open letter to all RIG Reps
A meeting was held on Friday morning between two RIG reps who gave up their own time to attend a meeting on behalf of all members. I appreciate their efforts on our behalf and appreciate that they have a private life, probably with partners and family, and try very hard to do their best for all. I trusted them to do their best for the RIG membership.
However trust and consideration has to be a two way street. We were not informed until the following morning that the meeting had even gone ahead. The email circulated was all that was required but should have gone out before members started asking what if anything had happened.
We are now 5 days since that meeting and we still don't have a transcript. I don't believe for one minute that this is because the two members haven't completed their notes as War and Peace could have been transcribed in that time.
We are then left with administration problems. On a BB we learn that Eva has to sign off on the transcript. A nuisance but I can see where Range are coming from and the process ensures further meetings. If Eva was slow in signing off then I suggest that this problem be brought to the attention of the BOD.
I also understand that all RIG reps need to sign off the transcript before publication. Why? I accept the process of collective responsibility but who was going to argue with the 2 reps who were at the meeting. Does this mean that if a rep goes offline because of a fault for 5 days we all need to wait for him to comeback on line.
Perhaps we should be looking at making things easier for the reps by looking at a quorum system. Won't work on all occasions as there will be times when collective responsibility will mean what it says.
We have been fortunate that the shares are in suspension and that there was never any chance of price sensitivity being an issue which means the 5 day delay is in some respects less excusable but on the other hand gives the jackals on the BBs who are already making jibes about the information not being freely available.
Had to be said. I now await the bricks, sticks and stones!
