Dear RIG members,
As advised last week, following PiHK's resignation as a RIG Representative, we are using this as an opportunity to expand the number of RIG representatives to reflect the increasing size of our Group which now represents around 800 members and 700m shares held (c.20% of Range's shares in issue).
We have received applications from 4 candidates who we hope you will find familiar from their posts on the various bulletin boards (in alphabetical order):
- GreatRoom
- NoDubaiTax
- Pearlexporter
- Rock Klondike/BongoBill
Please find below their brief manifestos which we would invite you to review before casting your vote. The current RIG Representatives are unanimously delighted with the calibre of all of the candidates and would therefore, dependent on the wishes of our members, be happy to expand the number of representatives from 6 by up to 4 Representatives.
However we recognise that not all of our members will want a committee this large so we are using a voting mechanism that allows members to select both their preferred order of candidates and how large they would like the group of RIG Representives to be.
This may make the Lib-Dems' single transferable vote seem simple, but we are using a proportional representation system that allows voters to both give a preference on the order of candidates and also limit the number of successful applicants should they not want the Representatives to expand to 10.
Alternatively If you would like to specify an order and give candidates more or less chance of being successful or would like to limit the number of representatives to less than 10 please use the 1st choice-4th choice boxes to place the candidates in your order of preference. If you would like to only expand the number of representatives by a lesser number then please just put your candidates in the order of your preference up to the size of the Representative group you would like.
Voting Options
Could you therefore please vote using the following table* to place your votes (by putting a "Yes" or "X" in the relevant yellow box or by just telling us in freeform text how you have voted) - If you would like to expand the number of represenatives to 10 and vote for all candidates equally then we have made it easy for you to cast a single vote at the top.
Voting Options
If you would like to vote for all candidates equally and want to expand the number of representatives to 10: Single vote for all
If you have a preference or wish to limit the number of representatives to less than 10:
1st Choice GreatRoom NoDubaiTax Pearlexporter Rock Klondike None of these (keep at 6 RIG Representatives)
2nd Choice GreatRoom NoDubaiTax Pearlexporter Rock Klondike No second choice (limit to 7 RIG Representatives)
3rd Choice GreatRoom NoDubaiTax Pearlexporter Rock Klondike No third choice (limit to 8 RIG Representatives)
4th Choice GreatRoom NoDubaiTax Pearlexporter Rock Klondike No fourth
choice (limit to 9 RIG Representatives)
* recipients of the RIG email will see this table, unfortunately for temporary technical reasons this won't map here correctly formatted at present, but we hope you get the drift!
Therefore if for example you would only like to replace PiHK with one representative and add no further RIG Representatives you would only put down a first choice and then put "No second choice" for your second choice (no need to place a 3rd or 4th choice).
1st choice will score 4 points, 2nd choice 3 points and so on. If any candidate does not score more than the "no further choices" votes then we will restrict the number of Representatives elected accordingly. For the "equal vote to all candidates" option each candidate will secure 2.5 points.
Simples.
We would encourage members to vote for as many candidates as possible - the workload for RIG Representatives can be quite onerous at times and we are not all available all of the time so having a bigger group of representatives will make us more responsive, bring more skills and ideas to the team and make us more representative of our membership.
You can register your votes either by email to rangeinvestorgroup@gmail.com or by PMing JimmyRobby or ErraticPhil here. Please register your votes by midday on Wednesday 16 April. We will announce the results as soon as we have finished counting the votes. The new representatives will join the existing representatives with immediate effect after the result has been announced. The new representatives will all be of equal standing with the existing representatives.
Please note that we can only accept votes from existing RIG members.
Best regards
The RIG Representatives
MANIFESTOS:
Election of RIG Representatives 11-16 April 2014
Manifestos for the 4 Candidates
1. Great Room
- First and foremost is the continued organisation and mobilisation of voter turnout. No preference to the way people vote will be an issue, just as long as we can get the numbers up to show the BOD that we are capable and determined.
- Continue to provide in-depth research and to publish on the RIG website for the good of all shareholders and prospective buyers and to assist in helping them make the decision to buy, hold or sell.
- Continue with the efforts to put pressure on the board to improve communications.
- To organise a Northern meet, so that shareholders in the less fortunate area of the country can discuss Range over bread and dripping.
- And finally, I will continue, where appropriate, to conduct my research into pressing issues using my finely honed detective skills.
Kind regards,
Great Room
2. NoDubaiTax
Hi – I am 59yrs old and run an engineering focused group of companies around the World which means I am based in Dubai, I am a fellow RRL investor and have been in RRL for around 4 years. I am an investor in many stocks on Aim, Main Market as well as ASX and follow company fundamentals as a rule.
I have been investing in shares for over 30 years and like to feel I offer a balanced perspective on BB forums, I am happy to put myself forward to RIG and if elected trust I will be able to offer other investors the value of my perspective when asked.
Kind Regards,
NoDubaiTax
3. Pearlexporter
I have been in RRL for nearly 5 years and have written, on various boards, probably well over 1000 posts in this time. I think my record shows that I try to be objective and fair throughout the highs and the lows. I have never had any hidden agendas and I have always called events as I see them at the time. I have been a RIG member from its inception and believe that its primary goals are ones that I agree with and can assist with. I am based in Angola currently (loosely employed by the booming oil sector in Luanda) so I wouldn't be around that much in the UK. So, primarily I would look to contribute research, communication / support with PIs and building relationships with key RRL staff.
Yes, we have had a nightmare two years, but I genuinely believe that if we can just monetize Texas and Georgia, limit future expenses (for the time being) with Guatemala and Puntland, farm out the majority of Colombia and actually focus on Trinidad then we can have massive upside from this all-time low. I think RIG can play a large role in keeping the pressure on our new board to deliver for the legions of long term holders who have been treated disgracefully these last two years or so.
Thanks,
Pearlexplorer
4. Rock Klondike/BongoBill
Hi folks, just a few words about me. I've been a holder of RRL for far too long, since just after the 2.9p rights issue days, so long term and as such, aware and as disappointed as most at the trials and tribulations that have happened since the heady days of our T&T acquisition and indeed have posted frequently on bulletin boards from iii to the old "RUM” but mainly Worldstocks under the nickname of "Rock Klondike" and now RIG as “BongoBill”.
RIG itself was born from the frustrations of the Company's downturn and with this comes a variety of different ideas to the path it should take with the Company itself, from passive persuasion to sack the BOD and take over the Company and all between ;-)
Having been a member of RIG from the outset, no one expects the Company to behave like "angels" but reasonable communications with shareholders (via RNA) shouldn't be too much to ask, the current lack of updates and even simple clarification on recent non price sensitive questions speaks volumes for the way which PI's are viewed/treated. Absolutely woeful and completely unjustifiable, the members of RIG need to stick together and continue to press for a change in the communication policy.
Kind regards,
Rock/Bongo
